1. While I agree with most of your opinions on unnecessary things in IDEs, I think "project" is a good thing. If you treat "project" as a way for grouping files that constitute your app (code, documentation, resources), then it has it's use and come in handy when you need a quick look over "what is where".
   
   This is the thing I miss in many text "just editors".
