1. Hans,
There are certain project which will have thousands of users once it reach to 1.0 and wax is one of those project. It is sad day for you and for python community. I am very curious to see your future plan about wax.

  2. My proposal didn't get accepted either, but yours was definitely more worthy -- I'm very surprised that they didn't accept your proposal :-( I thought I saw in Python-Dev that only 64 applications were made... which I thought was pretty small.

I'm disappointed that they didn't support it.

  3. I hope this doesn't discourage your work on wax. Wax has a brilliant simplicity to it that you don't see very often. A real gem waiting to be discovered by a wider audience.

  4. Well, 64 isn't that few -- they might be expecting to fund something in the range of 2-5 proposals. It's more likely that the grant will make something happen that wouldn't have otherwise happened if it is of a significant size.

Since we're all programmers, and we're all doing this stuff for free, I suspect non-software proposals might seem more interesting. Or software projects that everyone talks about but extensive experience shows no one does anything about, e.g., restricted execution, cataloging, etc. (Well, not "no one", but at least there's been far more talk than delivery)
