Consider the big tablet. I have an old one that is small (4x6?) and at 1024x768 it's impossible. It's serial/ps2.

It does become second nature after a few minutes.. The only dislocation comes when the tablet is at an rotational angle to the screen (imagine it in your lap be with the bottom left corner lower that the bottom right) this really messes with your brain...
Of course the ideal solution would be http://www.wacom.com/lcdtablets/.../
index_21UX.cfm but I don't have enough pennies... :-(
